Causes of Inflammation

Inflammation is a process in which our body reactions to any type of infection, irritation or injury to our any part of our body. It is also a natural body reaction the actually assists the body in dealing with the injury, the problems arise when it begins to prevent a natural repair process within the body. The common places for inflammation causes are around the joint areas, internal organs, to include the heart, lungs, kidneys, and large intestines. Inflammation occurs in three stages, acute stage, is where the redness and swelling take place. The second phase is the subacute phase or the inflammation reduction period and is the time frame where the body begins to start the healing and recovery process. Finally, the chronic stage is where the scar tissue begins to dissipate and the smaller scale features within the tissue begin to reform or also known as remodeling.

Symptoms

Inflammation causes four main types of symptoms heat, pain, redness, and swelling. Other symptoms have also been associated, such as joint pain, stiffness, and loss of joint mobility. Inflammation symptoms are all natural responses to the body and are an important step in the healing and repair process of the infected area. These symptoms will not always occur when you have some kind of inflammation, but it is important to know what is happening with your body and help it along with rest and medication.

Treatment

To promote inflammation reduction there are many types of medication available to help in reducing joint pain, swelling, and inflammation of infected areas. Some of the common inflammation reduction medications prescribed include NSAIDS (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), anti-histamines, corticosteroids, DMARDs (disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs), and BRMs (biologic response modifiers). Each type of medication will provide varying levels of reduction in the inflammation and also will react to each body differently. There are also non-medication methods to treating

There are also non-medication methods to treating inflammation reduction, such as hot and cold therapy. Applying cold to the infected area will help reduce the pain. Hot applications will help ease the inflammation reduction effects such as spasms and muscle cramps. In addition to medicine and rest, it is advised to consume more anti-inflammatory fats called omega 3s, which is found in cold-water fish such as salmon and herring. This will in inflammation reduction and help shorten your recovery time if you do develop inflammation within your body.

Causes

Inflammation occurs when of the chemicals from white blood cells are mixed into the blood or tissue while trying to kill the virus or bacteria that has infected the body. Inflammation causes are also from the release of the white blood cell chemicals which increases the body’s blood flow to the infected area, which results in redness and hot spots in and around the area. In addition, some of the inflammation causes the chemicals to create openings within the tissue and causes swelling around the infected area. Other inflammation causes are associated with the type of fats we consume in our diets. The amount of inflammatory fats that you eat, called omega 6s, are found in animal fats from meat and dairy, effects how easily you get inflammation. So the primary inflammation causes include diet and injury to parts of your body either internally or externally.
